Mission North Named to Inc.’s Best Workplaces List for Second Year in a Row

Dispatch INC

While economic uncertainty, a reemergence from the pandemic and other factors have proven challenging for companies nationwide, those that continue to excel are the ones with clear objectives. These companies have committed to creating inclusive work environments and have pledged to listen to their employees.

In that spirit, I’m thrilled to announce that for the second straight year, Mission North has been named to Inc.’s Best Workplaces List (2023) – recognized as one of the top organizations prioritizing employee well-being and shaping workplace values.

Inc. called this year’s list “the most competitive yet,” with select organizations recognized amid a sea of applicants.

“Clearly, Mission North has gone through extraordinary lengths to attract, develop, and maintain its team,” the publication noted.

Team First

Of course, we’d be nothing without our team – a hard-working group of PR generalists, content strategists, digital experts, and a variety of people leaders.

A recent pulse survey helped validate this recognition, with team members sharing the following feedback about their time with Mission North:

  • “[It’s] a company I’m proud to work for because of our dedication to making a positive impact through our work.”
  • “Our leaders are transparent about both progress and growth areas on our journey.”
  • “This company deeply cares about its employees in a way that I do not think is common in any workplace.”
  • “I have the support of my direct manager, senior leadership, and teammates.”
  • “I’m motivated by my work, the team, and the organization’s values and mission.”

A Mission to Support Our Staff, Others

Our agency strives to provide a creative and supportive environment for everyone – and we have active “Communities” that gather regularly to discuss prominent workplace, cultural and recreational topics. We also offer competitive benefits and professional development opportunities to every employee. Additionally, our Executive Advisory Group, which is composed of employees from all levels of the agency, counsels our leadership team on key workplace decisions.

Corporate responsibility is also vital to our organization. In fact, we’ve surpassed $1.5 million in donations through our corporate social responsibility program – by committing 2% of the company’s time, profits and owner equity to a range of nonprofits, from Green City Force in New York City to Washington English Center in Washington, D.C.

We also provide fully paid health insurance for employees, mental health support networks, monthly wellness stipends, flexible work schedules, bi-annual mental health days and generous parental leave, among other perks.

Fast Facts

Altogether, we’ve witnessed some great victories in recent months:

  • Last year, we became a benefit corporation, a legal designation that weaves corporate social responsibility into the fabric of our company. Ultimately, it ensures the work we do benefits our people, community and environment. (Only 3,000 companies hold this designation in the U.S.)
  • We launched The Future Is Fellowship to advance equity within our agency and in the communications industry at large. We welcomed our first fellow with a $16,000 scholarship, a $6,000 stipend and a two month paid internship. It’s a program that continues – and is growing – in 2023.
  • We dedicated more than 1,000 paid volunteer hours to causes we care about, a 280% increase over 2021.
  • Mission North also achieved a 78/100 belonging score and a 62 employee Net Promoter Score. We’re encouraged that the majority of our employees feel welcome, appreciated and engaged.

Continuing the Work

We’re just getting started with our positive cultural impact, and we know that it all starts with our employees and their happiness.

So, while we’re thrilled with this recognition, there is, of course, always more work to be done. We’ll keep our nose to the grindstone in 2023 – and continue to dig into areas that matter most for our team, clients and partners alike.

We’re one team, all in.
