Mission North Gives Back: An E3thos Grant Update

In January, Mission North officially launched E3thos, a program to guide Mission North’s collective commitment to giving back — both internally, and within our larger communities. As a key part of the E3thos roll out, Mission North employees now have two fantastic opportunities to give back to organizations of their choice:

  • Impassioned Individual Grants (IIG): a donation of $100 awarded on an employee’s 90-day anniversary.
  • Local Impact Grants (LIG): a grant of $1,000 to an organization nominated monthly by the staff and selected by Mission North partners.

We’ve had strong engagement with these benefits right out of the gate, with nearly 62 percent of Mission North employees so far giving back to organizations they care about through their IIG or LIG benefit!

In honor of this incredible response, we wanted to take a moment to recognize a few of the great causes our staffers have donated to through E3THOS grants — and allow them to explain in their own words why these organizations are so important.

Lulu & Leo Fund

“The Lulu & Leo Fund helps children and families foster creativity and build resilience through programs that provide meaningful engagement with art and other creative endeavors. Their mission is to encourage creative confidence — they believe (and I agree!) that through creativity, one can affect positive change, heal others, grow as an individual and even change lives. They have funded art classes for underprivileged children and are responsible for installing pianos throughout Central Park in NY to watch the joy it brings to people who share music with one another. They also created a Super Artist program with tips to help everyone have a 10-minute creative challenge each week. This organization continues to inspire me every day and spread smiles, and that is why I chose them for my donation!”

CARE

“CARE is doing incredible work around the Syrian refugee crisis, which has quietly become the single greatest humanitarian disaster of our time. While there's less media coverage around it than there once was — copy editors can only drum up so many terrible tragedy gets worse headlines, after all — the situation today is more dire than it has ever been. CARE is doing all it can to ensure refugees are getting at least a semblance of support as they try to pick up the pieces of their lives in foreign, often hostile new lands. I'm happy that we could provide them even a sliver of support via E3thos; they're doing some of the most impactful, meaningful work in the world today as far as I'm concerned.”

Friends of San Francisco Animal Care and Control

“I've been volunteering at Friends of San Francisco Animal Care and Control on and off for years, and the non-profit is the reason the dogs get out of their cages and outside every day. This group offers that and other critical help that enables the cash-strapped city agency care for all of the stray, lost and injured animals it is required to take in.”
