Education on the importance of flexible work

While the pandemic was upending the global economy and many companies had hiring freezes or layoffs, Fast was aggressively hiring. Fast needed to cut through a busy, rapidly evolving news cycle to communicate its unique culture, product value and company momentum. Amid COVID-19, Fast rolled out a new flexible work policy called Fast Flex. The company wanted potential employees to understand its flexible approach to work, which allows any employee to work from anywhere, on any day of the week (so long as they have a reliable internet connection). Fast Flex also enabled the San Francisco-based, company to hire from any location in the world, and Fast grew from two co-founders to over 90 employees in 2020. Additionally, Fast wanted to use this campaign to generate brand awareness while its flagship product was still in development.

 

To bring attention to the company and Fast Flex, we highlighted how Fast had made permanent changes to its workplace policies. Not only did we focus on how Fast was still hiring while many companies were laying off employees, we also showcased what made the program unique — that it was a permanent policy that would be in place after the pandemic .In addition, the message came through that even though Fast was open to remote, flexible work, they still value the collaborative and creative space of the physical office more than ever — giving employees a choice. We also produced new consumer data on remote work, to secure additional coverage while promoting Fast’s approach.

Execution + Results

Discussing Fast’s approach to hiring and the workplace amid COVID-19 (and the supporting workplace data) resulted in more than 16 pieces of coverage, many publishing even before Fast’s flagship product was announced. Coverage included The Wall Street Journal, three pieces in CNN, The Information, NBC Bay Area, and a byline in Forbes, as well as numerous intro conversations with reporters.
